Are engagement photos really worth it? The short answer – ABSOLUTELY!
First of all, it’s an exciting time! And why not document this time to look back on when you’re 30/40/50 years into your marriage? This is the first time the two of you have made the choice to spend your lives together. It’s kind of a big deal!
Second, when you book your wedding with me, you get a complimentary engagement session at no extra cost, so why WOULDN’T you have an engagement session?!
The engagement session gives you time to get to know your photographer and get comfortable with them before the big day. Let’s be honest, your wedding day is going to be cram packed with all kinds of activities and to-do lists. Knowing how your photographer works and what to expect for your wedding photos will not only help you absolutely rock your husband and wife portraits, but will help keep things running smoothly. Think of your engagement session as a practice session for your husband and wife photos, and who doesn’t want to be a pro for those?
Believe it or not, engagement sessions are actually a friggin’ blast. That might sound weird, especially to my future grooms, but they really are! I take care of posing so you don’t even have to worry about any of that. Most of the poses will have you laughing at how weird they feel, and it’s always fun to snuggle up with your hunny and dote on them a little bit!
Getting dressed up and spending an evening focusing just on each other actually sets the stage for a pretty great date night. I remember my engagement session vividly – we had a great time during and went out for a fun night afterwards, and that was 7 years ago! Trust me, it’s something you’ll remember.
Lastly, you won’t regret an engagement session. You won’t regret spending a couple hours with your fiancé, dressed to the nines, striking weird but beautiful poses and having fun, all while making tangible memories you can look back on for the rest of your lives. I can’t say for certain that you’d regret *not* doing it, but why take that chance?
Engagement photos are so special. Before marriage, before children, before families, before most of life’s ups and downs that you’ll face together. This gives you the chance to take the way you feel about each other right now and freeze it in time; to look back on during life’s challenges to remind you why you chose this person; to show your future generations where they came from, the love that brought them here.
So what do you think? Are engagement sessions *really* worth it?
